Job Summary
Fortes Group is seeking a skilled and experienced Facilities Engineer to oversee and manage preventive, corrective, routine, and emergency maintenance across all its properties. This role requires expertise in multiple disciplines, including carpentry, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and fire safety, ensuring all facilities operate at optimal efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to facility management.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Operations:
Supervise and ensure the execution of preventive, corrective, routine, and emergency maintenance across all Fortes Group properties.
Oversee, schedule, coordinate, and personally inspect maintenance work related to chillers, HVAC, fire detection systems, plumbing, electrical systems, telecommunication, and building security.
Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and address maintenance issues, including civil, MEP, firefighting, and swimming pool systems (e.g., clogged drains, leaks, UV system maintenance, electrical faults).
Ensure timely resolution of maintenance requests within pre-defined SLAs.
Vendor & Contractor Management:
Engage, negotiate, and manage subcontractors and external service providers for specialized maintenance and facility management services.
Prepare RFQs for external companies and subcontractors for Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs).
Oversee the execution and implementation of all AMCs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
Ensure minimum disruption to operations while managing third-party vendors for maintenance tasks.
Facility Modifications & Space Planning:
Oversee facility modifications, including cost estimation and procurement of equipment, labor, and materials.
Plan and execute internal relocations, office space reconfigurations, and installation of modular furniture, storage units, lighting, and partitions to optimize workspace.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
Act as the lead for Health & Safety matters, ensuring all facilities comply with local regulations and industry standards.
Implement safety protocols and oversee risk assessments related to maintenance and facility operations.
Ensure all building maintenance activities align with sustainability practices and energy efficiency standards.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
Lead and manage a team of supervisors, skilled technicians, and maintenance staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
Conduct briefing and debriefing sessions for facility teams on-site to maintain operational efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and hands-on support when needed.
Work closely with internal stakeholders, departments, and external vendors to resolve operational and maintenance concerns.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
8+ years of experience, including at least 5 years in a Facilities & Maintenance Engineering role.
Expertise in HVAC, BMS, ELVs, electrical systems, and plumbing.
Working knowledge of carpentry, painting, and interior fit-outs.
Project engineering experience in a construction environment is an advantage.
Prior experience in the education sector (schools or nurseries) is a plus.
Proficiency in CAFM systems is essential.
Strong problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills.
Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to draft official correspondence and RFQs.
Knowledge of Hindi is an advantage.
Valid UAE driving license is required.
Ability to manage maintenance operations across multiple sites.
