Groups, Conference and Events Manager

The Groups, Conference & Events (GC&E) Manager is responsible for driving revenue and ensuring the seamless planning and execution of group bookings, conferences, and events within the hotel. This role requires a proactive approach to sales, strong relationship management skills, and the ability to coordinate with multiple departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

What will I be doing?

As Groups, Conferences & Events Manager, you will manage group accommodations actively converting customer enquiries into confirmed sales. You will interact frequently with customers and Guests to learn about their needs and develop relationships from which to earn repeat and expanded business.

Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities for group bookings, conferences, and events.
Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, travel agencies, and local businesses.
Conduct site inspections, sales calls, and client meetings to promote the hotel's event and conference facilities.
Work closely with the sales and revenue management teams to maximize event revenue and optimize pricing strategies.
Oversee the planning and execution of all group, conference, and event bookings from initial inquiry to post-event follow-up.
Ensure all event details (e.g., catering, AV requirements, room setup) are accurately communicated to internal departments.
Collaborate with the Food & Beverage, Banqueting, and Operations teams to ensure smooth event execution.
Provide clients with tailored event solutions that meet their needs and exceed expectations.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date event diary to manage space availability efficiently.
Ensure contracts, deposits, and payments are handled in accordance with hotel policies.
Monitor and evaluate event success, gathering client feedback for continuous improvement.
Resolve any event-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
Lead, mentor, and train the GCE team to provide outstanding service and achieve revenue targets.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the department and across teams.
Prepare reports on event sales, revenue performance, and client feedback.
Ensure compliance with all hotel standards, policies, and procedures.

Previous experience in event management, conference sales, or group bookings within a luxury hotel or hospitality setting.
Strong sales acumen, excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.
Familiarity with event management and hotel booking software (e.g., Opera, Delphi, Cvent) is a plus.
Degree or diploma in Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred.
Strong analytical skills to understand key business indicators and competitive trends and develop approaches to these challenges
Excellent selling capability and an ability and desire to coach selling techniques to their team
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Ability to work under pressure
