As a Senior Contracts Engineer reporting to the Contracts Department Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing both pre-contract and post-contract phases, ensuring effective oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
Evaluating and reviewing client contract documents (conditions, ITT, schedules, BG formats) to identify risks and recommend modifications.
Managing client responses to ensure mutual agreement and safeguarding the employer's interests throughout the project.
Keeping detailed records of contract condition reviews.
Leveraging in-depth knowledge of FIDIC and bespoke contract conditions in UAE and KSA, with exposure to DEWA, TRANSCO, SEC, FEWA, EMAAR, DAMAC, and local legal frameworks.
Drafting and reviewing contractual letters to ensure compliance, resolving client communications effectively.
Working closely with site teams to ensure timely submission of notices, variation claims, and Extension of Time (EOT) claims.
Collaborating with project managers, planning teams, and engineers to prepare cost and time claims.
Reviewing claim correspondence and providing recommendations to the project team on variations and EOTs.
Providing full contractual support, maintaining registers for risks, claims, and contractual correspondences.
Preparing monthly reports on the status of EOT claims, potential risks, and ongoing claims.
Handling supplier and subcontractor claims related to delays, damages, prolongation, variations, and loss of expense.
Attending weekly project review meetings to assess risks and claims.
Coordinating with the planning team to track delay events and their impact on time and costs.
Liaising with legal teams on arbitration and court matters, ensuring relevant documentation is submitted.
Requirements: 8-10 years of contracts management experience, a degree in engineering, law, or quantity surveying, and proficiency in dispute resolution. Familiarity with legal codes in UAE/KSA is essential.
