Responsibilities:
• Search for the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible purchase cost
• Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, service, availability, reliability, and selection variety
• Examine catalogs, commerce publications and directories in order to find the right suppliers
• Inspect products and services
• Acquire materials and parts needed
• Structure product contracts
• Study sales records and inventory levels
• Control departmental budgets
• Appraise products and services
• Organize, coordinate, supervise and participate in the procurement of equipment, materials and supplies needed for efficient operation
• Ensure that quality and quantity requirements are met at the lowest price possible, and deliveries are within target
• Discuss and confer with concerned Managers, present and prospective suppliers concerning new products, substitutes, discounts, reciprocal business or package deals, etc.
• Attend the proper handling of purchasing problems such as unavailability of standard items, late deliveries, poor vendor service, sudden price increases, etc.
