Job Summary
The firm that we represent are seeking a Senior Smartplant Materials Specialist to join our their Industrial team in Nisku, AB. The Senior Smartplant Materials Specialist leads the material flow process for the Industrial Projects division in the fabrication, module assembly, and site construction for oil and natural gas facilities. The key focus of this role will be to create, manage, and execute a plan to better utilize the material management software Smartplant with the end goal of increased efficiency and added value for operations.
This Industrial division af a major domestic contracting group offers an integrated range of services from construction, engineering, and maintenance to pipe fabrication and module assembly. We offer turnkey solutions to our oil and gas clients and have built some of the continent’s largest oil and gas projects.
Responsibilities
• Manage the entire material flow process
• Stewardship information pertaining to materials across different functional groups
• Oversee the accurate and timely data entry into SmartPlant Materials based on engineering and procurement activities: bills of material, purchase order, receiving, materials request
• Provide subject matter expertise and guidance with regard to materials for the fabrication facility, module assembly yard, and project sites
• Provide training and support to job-site materials groups
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external project teams
• Produce and distribute material status reports to project stakeholders
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
• 8+ years of experience in a similar role
• Completion of post-secondary education in supply chain, business, or industry related trade certification
• Experience with Smartplant or other materials management software required
• Experience supporting major industrial projects $100M+ strongly preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel)
• Thorough knowledge and understanding commodities and material flow within heavy industrial construction
• Ability to identify problems/issues, and look beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications and generate possible solutions
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaboratively in a team environment
• Detail oriented and highly organized
• Proven experience in prioritizing and multi-tasking in a fast paced environment
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
